本品造型优雅隽秀,直口短颈,左右附饰二耳,玲珑别致,釉质温润莹白,器身前后均绘饰立龙海水纹,以青花绘祥云与浪涛,层次清晰,尤见浪涛动感强烈,以釉里红绘画正面立龙,巧缀青花点睛,其雄硕遒劲,威仪横贯,气夺千里。所施釉里红一色妍丽,发色于市场流通中为极上品,含蓄之美宛如佳人初醉,与青花明快鲜亮之色,相互辉映,
此式扁瓶系受西亚文化启迪而出现的器形,肇始流行于永宣时期,后雍正、乾隆二朝御瓷对其均有摹制与化裁,在清宫的正式名称为马挂瓶。其形典雅尊贵,透出皇家独有的气派,深为乾隆皇帝喜欢,多次谕旨唐英为之烧制,存世所见品类繁多,可见当年烧造之盛。目前检视档案,乾隆朝关于马挂瓶烧制的最早记录是在乾隆二年,此件拍品出自于私人珍藏,极其珍稀。
