爐鈞釉，創燒於雍正，時唐英督陶。世宗，樂仿古創新，尤為傾心宋明鈞瓷窯變之玄幻斑斕。為摹此釉，特遣景德鎮禦窯廠匠，遠赴數千公裏外之河南禹縣鈞地訪學燒瓷技藝。成功釉種見有帶紫色斑紋者，如窯變釉，以及帶松石綠色斑紋者，如爐鈞釉壹類。唐英所稱「爐鈞」，換言之，即低溫鈞釉，記於景德鎮唐英刻碑，以彰其作為唐窯燒成之重要瓷品及理想供禦瓷類。其色，介於廣東佛山石灣窯與江蘇宜興窯紫砂壺釉色之間，唯爐鈞流釉更佳。
